Hot Fun in the Summertime

Well, we’re midway through August and I’m trying to pack as much summering in as possible over the next couple of weeks. Driving south, driving north, sipping wine on my back porch. That’s the plan.

Come September, back to regularly scheduled programming.

Before I tell you what’s coming up, let me tell you about the fun I’ve already had this summer.

The tours were SPECTACULAR!!! I got to walk and chat with cool people who helped me shape and contextualize the strolling. No one died from heat exhaustion, though we danced on the edge.

I’ll be launching new versions of the tour in September. Join my mailing list, or follow me on Twitter or Facebook to stay up to date on developments.

As always, if you want to book a custom group tour, give me a shout:

As many of you know, SHE THE PEOPLE opens with the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Boston. You can imagine my excitement when I got to do an event in the Old State House, just on the other side of the window from the balcony where the Declaration was read.

Yes, I am wearing a tricorn. It was there. What else could I do?

The event was the edition of the Massachusetts stripe to Her Flag, an amazing art project started by Marilyn Artus to celebrate the ratification of the 19th Amendment 100 years ago. She commissioned Kara Persival to design and create the stripe, and asked me to speak as she stitched.

Here is the flag with the stripe stitched on:

There are still 28 stripes to go. The flag is going to be huge and beautiful and displayed all over the country. Check in at the Her Flag website to get updates on when it might be near you.

I’ll be updating my Events listing soon with some things that are happening in September and October, as well as new tour dates. Stay tuned!
