I’ve now broken things down into two tours: Upstairs & Downstairs and Comings & Goings.
Upstairs & Downstairs looks at class and race distinctions between the women of Boston through the years, and women’s work in general. We talk about who worked for who, what the interactions were, and where the money came from.
Comings & Goings talks about the changes brought about by the arrivals of different groups and they ways in which women connected with each other.
Each tour lasts about two hours and covers two miles. We stop for refreshments halfway and there are several opportunities for bathroom breaks.
